PRODUCT CARE INFORMATION
• Climate Control
All wood products will continuously exchange moisture with the room air as the climate changes in your home. Natural woods are a porous material and will expand slightly with a rise in humidity and contract with a drop in humidity. These changes, however, will not affect our product’s quality.
Damage may occur if the product is exposed to extreme heat, cold, low or high humidity.
Temperatures are best kept between 60 and 85 degrees, with a relative humidity of 45 to 25 percent. Prolonged conditions above or below this range may shorten the life of this product.
Avoid areas with direct sun light (mainly Southern exposures) where the product will be exposed for long periods of time. This may cause fading or darkening depending on the species of wood. It may also promote surface cracking.
Please note that some wood species will naturally darken with age. This color change is not considered a quality defect.

• Product Protection
All of our products have a pre-catalyzed lacquer finish to enhance the natural beauty of the wood. However, these are still natural products and can be damaged by sharp, hard or abrasive objects. Avoid dragging objects across the surface; instead lift objects off the surface when moving them. Taking precautions when working around your product will prolong its life.

• Cleaning and Protecting
Beyond regular dusting, periodic cleaning and polishing will enhance the wood’s appearance by removing smudges and dirt build-up. We recommend a mild cleaner and oil polish made for wood products for regular care. Polishing should be held to only once every 3 months.
Avoid polishes with silicone or wax. When applying a polish use a clean cotton rag. Apply a small amount directly to the rag wiping in the direction of the grain and then remove excess oil with a dry rag. For stubborn dirt and grim use mild soap and warm water on an Ultra-fine (0000) steel wool pad and rub very gently with the grain of the wood. Caution: Steel wool coarser then ultra-fine will remove finish quickly. Make sure pad stays wet and never use a dry steel wool pad on wood surfaces. Wipe dry with a clean cotton rag and apply furniture oil to surface.

• Repairing Minor Scratches
Often small scratches can be repaired with oil polish and ultra-fine (0000) steel wool. For scratches that have penetrated the stained surface, you will have to stain the area with a matched touch-up pen found at most hardware stores. Before touching up the area test the color on an area not seen to ensure color match. Lightly stroke the pen over the affected area and wipe immediately with a clean cotton rag - then polish as stated above.
In many cases, our professional team can restore most damages if treated within a reasonable time. Please contact us for additional information.
